The incidents kept popping up: A Los Angeles police officer, staring down the barrel. Of an air-type gun to youths under 18, and placing restrictions on carrying such. May 2005 you can't shoot an air gun across a public road or railroad track.
Your responses have been great, particularly since I don't have a specific question in mind.I've got two pigeons that have nested in my house crapping all over everything. Plus, they're mating so unless I get rid of them permanently, I'll have more. I'm waiting for a pest control guy I know to call me back, but I was just wondering what would happen if I just got a BB gun since it's just two pigeons and not a huge problem.I'm in Placer County, but am asking generally cuz I've got family/friends all over California (more specifically, LA, Orange, Riverside, and San Francisco counties). Most of the info has already been posted but I'll add a few thoughts:A few years ago there was a section of the Fish and Game Code in California that could have given you grief- 3680.
It took a decade or more but we finally got it re-worded. Now for shooting the pigeon to be a violation of the FGC, the bird would have to be registered and banded.
During Band-Tailed pigeon season, (a native wild bird) you can shoot even a registered racing pigeon. The thought is, the Antwerp homers look like the native band-tails and even fly the same way.
The pigeon racing lobby is surprisingly strong and has similar laws in many states.Besides the game laws and firearms laws you need to be aware of the human factor out there. No matter what the creature is there will be someone who loves it and would like to see bad things happen to anyone who would hurt it. I'm seeing PC 597 applied to completely crazy situations. A licensed pest control operator in LA was jailed and now has a felony record because he didn't provide food and water for the trapped pigeons before they were killed. The link that SgtChp provided goes to a pretty squared away county agency. I haven't seen their site in a while but it used to have some great information on a registered pigeon toxicant called 'Avitrol'. That stuff works but you must be licensed to have or use it.
How do I legally carry firearms in my car, truck or motor home in the state of California?
